Some folks like to to believe that the Ku Klux Klan does not hold a legacy here in Scranton. But here is proof, that on this day down Lackawanna Avenue the Klan marched ostentatiously and unbothered in white ropes and pointed caps–a symbol of white supremacy, terrorism and hate.
The only loosely implemented mandate given by the mayor of the time, E.B. Jermyn, was that members of the KKK participating in the parade “not wear their masks.”
